A major exhibition featuring the
work of 31 Israeli artists has
opened at the Clay Studio in
Philadelphia and will tour North
America for two years.
The exhibition reflects the
many aspects of Israeli culture,
since the establishment of the
state, integrated into the medium
of day. Influences include Orien-
tal and Western, ancient and
avant-garde, local and interna-
tional, secular and observant.
The exhibition was produced
by the Clay Studio in cooperation
with the Ceramic Artists Associ-
ation of Israel, the Israeli Min-
istry of Foreign Affairs, and the
department of cultural affairs of
the Consulate General of Israel
in New York.
In Washington, D.C., an exhi-
bition of 50 oils, acrylics, draw-
ings and collages by six Israeli
and six Palestinian Arab artists
is on display at the Internation-
al Center.
Coordinated by Israeli Ariella
Azoulay in association with the
Israeli Embassy in Washington
and the department of cultural
affairs of the Consulate General
of the United States, the show is
traveling for two years.
Now on exhibit at the B'nai
B'rith Klutznick National Muse-
um is "Faces and Facets: Israeli
Women Photographed by Shai
Zakai." The exhibit focuses on
mothers from various back-
grounds — Jews, Muslims,
Druze and Christians — and in-
cludes a puppeteer, a general, a
fisher woman, a rabbi, a Yoga in-
structor and a mother of 20.
