Howard Newman has been ap-
pointed executive director of de-
velopment for the Wayne State
University School of Medicine.
He is responsible for coordinat-
ing the school's capital campaign,
its annual fund and planned giv-
ing efforts.
In addition to his role at WSU,
Mr. Newman, who has a laWde-
gree from Cleveland-Marshall
College of Law, continues to
serve as the Detroit Medical Cen-
ter's vice president of develop-
ment, a position which he has
held since 1992. Mr. Newman's
dual appointment serves to
strengthen development efforts
between WSU and the DMC by
combining donor constituencies
for greater support. The DMC is
a seven-hospital health-care sys-
tem affiliated with the WSU
School of Medicine.

Dr. Michael Lutz

Dr. Michael Lutz has been ap-
pointed section chief of urology
at Sinai Hospital. He has a pri-
vate practice in Southfield and
has written several articles for
medical journals and presented
papers at medical conferences.
His professional affiliations in-
clude the American College of
Surgeons, the American Urolog-
ic Association, the American Fer-
tility Society, the Michigan
Urologic Society and others.
