Alex Etkin

Detroit philanthropist Alex J.
Etkin was awarded an honorary
fellowship from the Technion-Is-
rael Institute of Technology. He
received the degree for his exem-
plary support of the Technion
and the American Technion So-
ciety (ATS), the leading U.S.
supporter of higher education
in Israel.
The honorary fellowship is
one of the Technion's most
prestigious tributes and is be-
stowed on individuals from
around the world who have
made outstanding contributions
to the building of the State of Is-
rael and the Technion—the in-
stitution responsible for placing
the Jewish state at the leading
edge of modern science and tech-
nology.
Alex Etkin serves on the ATS
National Board of Directors and is
a past vice president of the Detroit
chapter. He and his wife, Toby, es-
tablished the A.J. Etkin Interna-
tional Seminar on Strategic
Planning in Construction Compa-
nies at the Technion. As chairman
of the board of A.J. Etkin Con-
struction Co., he is a leader in the
