exact same thing, only evolved."
He also has a deep apprecia-
tion for the art of other cultures
and communities. Studying un-
der a grant in Venice, Italy, Mr.
Levensohn discovered Italian-
Jewish folklore.

Mr. Levensohn's
fluency in Italian,
Spanish, Hebrew
and American Sign
Language is
helping recruit
interpreters for the
Olympics.

"A lot of it is locked away in lit-
tle cryptic rooms in hidden-away
synagogues that were destroyed
during wars," he says, adding
that he did a research report dur-
ing college on why retrieving this
literature leads to a better un-
derstanding of early European
Jewish communities.
Despite his intense research
and scholarly pursuits in Italy,
Spain and Israel, Mr. Levensohn
says he was probably one of the
least academic students at Yale
University.
"I was known as the compar-
ative literature major who did
not read books," he says. "I don't
have that patience. I have to be
up and running and doing
things."
Mr. Levensohn is using his flu-
ency in Italian, Spanish, Hebrew
and American Sign Language to
recruit interpreters to Atlanta
for the Olympics. He's also work-
ing on assignments with the At-
lanta Committee for the Olympic
Games, the Georgia Games and
the Atlanta Convention and Vis-
itors Bureau. And making mon-
ey while not worrying about the
traditional 9 to 5 frees him to
pursue some of his passions, in-
cluding documentary filmmak-
ing and writing.
"I can admire people who can
commit to one sphere," Mr. Lev-
ensohn says, citing filmmakers
Steven Spielberg and Jane Cam-
pion and documentarian David
Fanning as some of his role
models.
"There are people out there in
all the worlds that I feel I belong
in, who manage to participate in
all of them," he says. "That's my
idea about what my future is
like, and I know it will evolve
into reality." El
