109 N. CENTER
DOWNTOWN NORTHVILLE
(810) 349-4131
Presenting Laura Ross, con-
temporary clay artist. Ross' work
combines traditional clay-making
with contemporary treatments of
materials, creating rich patterns of
color and vivid imagery.
Ross works low-fired terra cot-
ta producing colored stains to cre-
ate velvet-like surfaces with animal
and plant-form imagery. Etched
marks reminiscent of "ancient"
symbols create a sense of freedom
and "play," lending strength to the
planes of the surface. Copper-leaf
and hand-dyed reeds enhance the
color and design of each piece.
Show runs through the end of
August.
Hours: M-TH 10-6; F 10-7; SAT
10-5; SUN 12-4.

Designica is featuring the work
by Italian painter Michele Salemi
thru July 31st. Art Critic Franco
Basile describes his work as "an
explosion of colors rich with hints
of expressionism." From his bold
strokes and use of strong colors
and spacial contrasts emerge land-
scapes, still lifes and nudes chal-
lenging our way of viewing art and
compelling the eye to explore the
artist's message.
