Melton School
Classes Set

The Florence Melton Adult Mini-
School of Metro Detroit is a two-
year adult Jewish learning
program coordinated by the
Midrasha Center for Adult Jew-
ish Learning in partnership with
many congregations, agencies,
and organizations from through-
out the metro Detroit Jewish
community.
A new set of day and evening
classes will be launched in Sep-
tember. Space is limited, and en-
rollment will be on a first-come,
first-served basis. A non-refund-
able deposit of $100 is required.
Tuition for the 1995-96/5756
academic year will be $295 for
members in good standing of a
Melton Partner and $350 for oth-
ers. Registration and tuition pay
ment is on a year-to-year basis.
Two new classes will be offered
in the fall, beginning the week of
September 11: Wednesdays from
9:30 a.m. to noon at the Maple-
Drake Jewish Community Cen-
ter; and Thursdays from 7 to 9:30
p.m. at the Midrasha Center for
Adult Jewish Learning, located
in the AJE building in South-
field.
Classes meet once a week, 30
weeks a year, for two years. Its
curriculum consists of four core
courses developed by researchers
at Hebrew University in
Jerusalem.
The first-year courses are 'The
Purposes and Vocabulary of Jew-
ish Living" and "The Rhythms of
Jewish Living." The second-year
courses are "The Ethics of Jew-
ish Living" and "The Dilemmas
of Jewish Living." Graduates re-
ceive a certificate of completion
from Hebrew University and are
eligible to participate in annual
Melton Summer Adult Jewish
Learning Institutes in Israel.
A series of "Taste of Melton"
previews will be offered between
now and early September. Each
preview will include a brief mini-
lesson taught by a Melton Mini-
School instructor and an
opportunity for questions and an-
swers about the Melton Mini-
School.

July 10, at 12:30 p.m. Rabbi
