Na'amat USA, Greater Detroit
Council, has named co-presi-
dents Shirlee Katzman and Eve-
lyn Noveck, and Dorothy
Tendler, council member, as del-
egates to the 34th National Bi-
ennial Convention of Na'amat
USA to be held in Boston, July
16-19. The convention will
launch the 70th anniversary of
Na'amat USA, the Women's La-
bor Zionist Organization of
America.
The convention will feature
leading representatives of the
governments of the United
States and Israel. Highlighting
the convention will be an ad-
dress by Ofra Friedman, pres-
ident of Na'amat Israel. Ms.
Friedman, an attorney, previ-
ously served as chairwoman of
Na'amat's Status of Women
Department.

Michigan and Seaway Branch-
es of Women's League for Con-
servative Judaism will come
together on Wednesday, July 19,
at Beth Israel Congregation in
Ann Arbor.
The day will begin with a lun-
cheon at 11:30 a.m. followed by
a program at 12:30 p.m. fea-
turing Jewish educator and au-
thor Harlene Appelman
speaking on "The Charge and
Challenge"—values and gener-
ation gap.
Ms. Appelman has been teach-

ing, directing and creating fam-
ily education programs for agen-
cies and congregations for 15
years and was responsible for
creating Jewish Experience for
Families (JEFF) in the Detroit
Metropolitan area. In 1993 she
received the Michigan Branch
Woman of Achievement Award.
Florence Gerber, president of
Michigan Branch, and Terry
Winston, president of Seaway
Branch, will hold a joint branch
meeting prior to the luncheon.
Seaway Branch consists of Con-
servative sisterhoods in the On-
tario and Quebec provinces of
Canada.
All sisterhood members are
invited to the luncheon and pro-
gram. There is a charge for the
luncheon and reservations are
required. Free babysitting is

Hears Reporter

Marla Dickerson, national re-
porter for the Detroit News, will
address the ZOA-Einstein Lun-
cheon Forum Tuesday noon, July
11, at the Clarion Hotel, 12 Mile
at Orchard Lake Road, Farm-
ington Hills.
Ms. Dickerson accompanied
Mission II to Israel recently
sponsored by the Jewish Fed-
eration of Metropolitan Detroit
and has covered its travels and
activities in Israel. Her articles
on Israel, the Palestinian Au-
thority and Egypt have been se-
rialized recently in the Detroit
News.
