Na'amat Hosts
National Leader

Past national president Esther
Zackler will address Na'amat
USA, Greater Detroit Council at
its Spiritual Adoption Luncheon
to be held on Thursday, July 13,
at noon at Adat Shalom syna-
gogue.

The Spiritual Adoption Lun-
cheon is held annually on behalf
of the abandoned, neglected or
abused children in Israel cur-
rently living in Na'amat
day/night homes. There is a
charge for the luncheon. Reser-
vations may be made by calling
the Na'amat USA office, 967-
4750, by July 7.

Elects Board

The Sophie and Harry Hoffman
Chapter-City of Hope had its
election of officers. The following

Esther Zackler is one of five
former Na'amat USA national
presidents to make aliyah to Is-
rael. She serves as liaison be-
tween Na'amat USA and
Na'amat Israel and is a member
of Na'amat USA's advisory
board. A native of Chicago, she
earned a bachelor of law and let-
ters from DePaul University and
became a practicing attorney
specializing in labor manage-
ment relations. Before making
aliyah, Mrs. Zackler was an ac-
tive participant in Chicago's com-
munity life. She is a former
chairwoman of the board of di-
rectors of the Israel Histadrut
campaign and of women's divi-
sion of the State of Israel Bonds.
She also served on the board of
Jewish education in Chicago and
on the advisory committee of the
status of women in Illinois, as
well as on the local and national
boards of numerous other com-
munity organizations.
Now living in Tel Aviv, Mrs.
Zackler helps guide and super-
vise Na'amat USA programs in
Israel. She is involved in plan-
ning and preparing leadership
training seminars, including the
successful programs held in Is-
rael for young potential leaders.
Luncheon attendees also will
hear a special presentation by lo-
cal community leader Marlene
Borman, who will report on her
recent mission to the Far East.
As a representative of the Joint
Distribution Committee, Mrs.
Borman visited Baku, Azerbai-
jan and Cochin, China. A past
president of the Women's Divi-
sion of the Jewish Federation,
she is on the national board of
the Joint Distribution Commit-
tee and is president of the Free
Loan Association of Metropoli-
tan Detroit.

The Greater Detroit Chapter of
Hadassah has formed and char-
tered its newest group, Ruach,
composed of both single and mar-
ried women from the ages of 24-30.
Kari Provizer is the group's pres-
ident. Vice presidents are: Elissa
Abrams, Barbara Meskin, Kim
Broner, Julie Sturman. The sec-
retaries are: Jennifer Greenfield,
Julie Wechsler, Michelle Chapnick;
the treasurer is Leslie Wise.

Torah Center
Plans Events

Rabbi Elimelech Silberberg of
Bais Chabad Torah Center will
give a lecture on the weekly
Torah portion on Monday, July
3, at 8:15 p.m. which will include
a discussion on "The Legacy Of
The Lubavitcher Rebbe, OBM"
Registration is still open for
the challah baking demonstra-
tion which will be given by
Chaya Sora Silberberg at the
Torah Center on Wednesday,
July 5, at 7:30 p.m.

NOAH SIEGEL of Southfield
has been awarded a doctor of
medicine degree from the Uni-
versity of Michigan Medical
School. He is the son of Donald
and Judith Siegel.

ERIKA LEVIN of Bloomfield
Hills has been awarded a doctor
of medicine degree from the Uni-
versity of Michigan Medical
School. She is the daughter of
Phil and Fran Levin. She will do
her residency in ophthalmology
at the University of Illinois.
