lecture about the Supreme

journalist. During the lecture
the journalist referred to
Judge Robert Bork's Jewish
background. The journalist
stated that Judge Bork was
raised in a Jewish home and
his early training was in Ju-
daism. Is this true?

Q: Everybody knows that Men-
achem Begin and Henry Kissinger
got one, but who was the first Jew
to win the Nobel Prize for Peace?
A: That honor belongs to two

men, Tobias Asser (1838-1913)
and Alfred Fried (1864-1921),
both of whom received the
award in 1911.
Asser, a native of Holland, re-
ceived the Nobel Prize for his
work in international law and
on The Hague Arbitration
Court. Fried, from Vienna, was
founder of the German Peace
Society.
