GERMAN ART BETWEEN
THE WARS
Saturdays, July 8, 15 & 22 1 1995

Taught by Dora Apel, Ph.D., this fascinating three-
part course examines the rise of anti-war art in
the early 1920s. It continues with an exploration
of the political uses of photography and concludes
with the attacks-4)n modernist artists at Hitler's
infamous Degenerate Art exhibition in 1937.
The work of Germany's most important artists,
such as Kaethe Kollwitz and Otto Dix, is
featured along with that of lesser-known artists
who deserve greater historical recognition.
