Call us. AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY' Boynton Beach, Fla., died June 3. Mr. Friedman was a whole- sale distributor of furniture and the owner of Nelson-Detroit Corporation. He started as a salesman in the 1930s at the old State Sample Store and af- ter serving in Europe during World War II, he became gener- al manager. In 1995, he formed Nelson-Detroit Corporation and during the 1960s he owned the Crown Furniture Company. In the 1970s, Mr. Friedman head- ed a minority business coalition to assist minorities in starting and staying in business. He was an officer of the Fur- niture Club of Detroit, a mem- ber of the Dynamic Club of De- troit, past member of the Woodmont Country Club in Tamarac, Fla., and a member of the Indian Springs Country Club in Boynton Beach. He was the beloved husband of the late Edna Friedman. Mr. Friedman is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Nancy of Boca Raton, Fla.; daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Ronald Koenigsberg of West Bloomfield; grandchil- dren, Jonathon and Michael Koenigsberg and Terri Loewen- thal; brother, Shol of Los Ange- les; sister-in-law, Shirley Stern; brother-in-law, Sam Sills. MAX PARKER, 85, of West Bloomfield, died June 1. For 50 years, Dr. Parker had a dental practice in River Rouge. He was a graduate of City Col- lege and the University of Michigan Dental School. Dr. Parker was a Alpha Omega So- ciety alumni, past member of the Detroit Dental Society and a member of the Jewish Com- munity Center. Dr. Parker was also a life master of bridge, a member of the American Con- tract Bridge Association and a Level A squash enthusiast. He was the dear brother of the late Dr. Benjamin Parker and the late Judge Hyman Parker. Dr. Parker is survived by his wife, Evelyn; sons and daughter-in-law, Dr. Jeffrey and Lynn, Thomas, Sidney "Skip"; grandchildren, Leigh, Lindsey, Jonas and Garret.
