Educators Event
Hosted By AJE
On Sunday, June 11, the Agency
for Jewish Education will host
"An Evening of Appreciation for
Jewish Educators."
The event, which is scheduled
to begin at 7:30 p.m. at Congre-
gation B'nai Moshe, is open to all
educators who teach early child-
hood through high school in the
Jewish community. Highlights
of the evening will include mu-
sic by singer, songwriter and ed-
ucator Debbie Friedman and a
multi-media presentation "Re-
flections on the Year 5755," with
slides from classrooms through-
out the Jewish community.
In addition, teachers who par-
ticipated in and completed the
AJE's NIRIM Professional En-
richment Program for Jewish
Educators will be recognized and
presented with certificates as
well as lead educators who are
leaving their positions. The
evening will conclude with a raf-
fle drawing for an all expenses
paid trip to this summer's 20th
Annual CAJE Conference in
Amherst, Mass., followed by a
dessert reception.
Prior to the evening program,
the AJE will hold its last session
of the Ma'ayan Tefillah Teach-
ers Retreat and follow-up work-
shop series. Participants will
meet at B'nai Moshe at 3 p.m. to
continue their "journey through
sacred space," learning how to
apply tefillah (prayer) and new
songs and melodies into their
classrooms. Debbie Friedman
and the team of other Ma'ayan
Tefillah educators will lead the
participants through the session
and prepare them for a special
presentation to be made at the
evening program.
There is no charge for the pro-
gram but prior reservations are
required. For information or to
make a reservation, call Ellen
Krivchenia at the Agency for Jew-
ish Education, (810) 354-1050.
