Jerry Taylor
Drs. Schechter and Taylor will
receive the State of Israel Mai-
monides Award presented to out-
standing individuals in the fields
of medical science, the healing
arts and health care services.
Dr. Schechter, a graduate of
the University of Michigan Med-
ical School, has been in practice
for 30 years as an orthopedic sur-
geon. He has been on staff at
Sinai Hospital of Detroit Acade-
my of Orthopedic Surgery. Addi-
tionally, Dr. Schechter is
affiliated with the American
Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons,
the Clinical Orthopedic Society
and the Michigan State Ortho-
pedic Society. He is active with
the American Israel Political Ac-

tion Committee, the American
Jewish Committee and the Jew-
ish Community Center.
Dr. Taylor, active in the Israel
Bonds campaign for the past 15
years, is an osteopathic physi-
cian/surgeon whose specialty is
orthopedic hand surgery. Dr. Tay-
lor has been a staff member at
Botsford General Hospital and
Oakland General Hospital since
1966 and has practiced orthope-
dic hand surgery since 1973. He
is a member and founding presi-
dent of the American Osteopath-
ic Academy of Orthopedic
Surgeons/hand Surgery section
and an assistant clinical profes-
sor of the Orthopedic Surgery De-
partment of Michigan State
University. He is involved in the
Allied Jewish Campaign, is a
member of the World Fellowship
of the Israel Medical Association
and is available to travel to Israel
and assist medically in case of a
national crisis.
