Call The Jewish News 354-5959 Contest Seeks Seniors' Stories In an effort to learn and share the stories of our community's elders, the Washtenaw County Jewish Community Center's Spice of Life Program for Older Adults is par- ticipating in a Legacies contest that asks those age 60 and old- er to write brief stories about an important event in their lives. The contest is open to everyone and not restricted to members of the Jewish Community Center of Washtenaw County. The winner of the local contest will be eligible for entry into the National Legacies Contest and $15,000 in cash prizes; there will also be prizes awarded to local winners. In addition, every story will be entered into the Legacies archives designed to preserve these historical documents for fu- ture generations. Participants are asked to write their story — typewritten or leg- ibly hand-printed — in three pages or less. There is no charge to enter the contest. The deadline for entries is July 31. Legacies contest participants are asked to select one of the fol- lowing topics on which to base their story: Tell a story of some- thing that happened that changed the direction of your life; describe the greatest challenge you've ever faced in your life; tell story that you would want your great-grandchildren to know; de- scribe a spiritual experience that had a strong influence on your life; what is the funniest or the best thing that ever happened to you?
