for Outstanding Professional Service
Workshops
For Parents
Jewish Family Service will offer
a series of parenting workshops
as a result of requests from the
community.
Parenting: Infants to Adoles-
cents is a six-week interactive
workshop addressing parenting
strategies for each primary de-
velopmental phase. Two weeks
will be devoted to each of the fol-
lowing phases: infant/toddler,
school-age, adolescence. Partici-
pants may register for a partic-
ular phase or for the entire
workshop. the workshop will be
held on consecutive Wednesdays
beginning June 7, from 9:30-11
a.m.
Parenting Through Divorce is
a one-session workshop for par-
ents who are experienting the di-
vorce process or have already
divorced. Issues explored include
keeping the focus on child-rear-
ing, rather than marital conflict;
dividing parental responsibili-
ties; communicating between
ex-spouses. The workshop will
be held on June 28, from 7-8:30
p.m.
There is a fee for both work-
shops, which will be held at the

JARC Plans
Fund Raiser
' JARC will present the opening
night of Andrew Lloyd Webber's
new production of Joseph and the
Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
on Wednesday, Nov. 29, at the
Masonic Theatre. Invitations to
the event will be mailed in Sep-
tember.
Sandra Dembs is chairman of
the event, which raises funds to
support JARC homes and pro-
' grams for people with develop-
mental disabilities in the Detroit
community.

Charach Epstein Museum in the

Eligibility for Nomination:
All Jewish communal professionals
employed by Federation, its agen-
cies, or its beneficiaries, who have
been working in the Detroit Jewish
community a minimum of five years.
The recipient of the Berman Award must demonstrate the highest
professional standards in his/her chosen field. That professional
must have:
• made a contribution to the general good of the Jewish community
• demonstrated leadership and innovation to his/her profession
• applied creativity, dedication, knowledge and care to providing
services to the Jewish
community
