STANLEY GILBERT, 88, of
South Bend, Ind., died April 19.
Mr. Gilbert was an attorney,
public relations consultant and
former part-owner of Gilbert's
Men's Store; he held several
sales and management posts
before serving as secretary-
treasurer of the company for 25
years. Mr. Gilbert received his
undergraduate and law degrees
form the University of Michi-
gan. He was a lieutenant
colonel in the Army during
World War II.
Mr. Gilbert served in the In-
diana General Assembly in the
1933 and 1935 sessions. He was
a member of B'nai B'rith, He-
brew Orthodox Congregation,
Jewish War Veterans, Reserve
Officers Association, Emeritus
Club of the University of Michi-
gan, American Legion Post 303,
Michiana Jewish Historical So-
ciety. He also served on the
board of directors of the South
Bend Civic Theater and was
the first president of the Rose-
land Rotary Club. Mr. Gilbert
was a part-time instructor at
Indiana Vocational Technical
College. He was involved in the
mental Health Association of
St. Joseph County, the Urban
League, the Model Cities Pro-
ject, Hearing and Speech Cen-
ter, the Menswear Retailers of
America, the Toastmasters
Club and the Great Books Club.
In 1988, Mr. Gilbert was hon-
ored with the Member of the
Year Award by the Hebrew Or-
thodox Congregation.
He is survived by his wife,
Muriel; daughter, Ellen Gilbert
Schaumberg of West Blomfield;
son, Stephen of South Bend; six
grandchildren. He was the fa-
ther of the late Patricia Gilbert
Brunetti.

ERNA KOENIGSBERG, 99,
of West Bloomfield, died May
21. She ws the beloved wife of
the late Joachim Koenigsberg.
She is survived by her daugh-
ters and sons-in-law, Henny
and Martin Spector of South-
field, Gertrude and Sy Garber
of West Bloomfield; grandchil-
dren, Dr. Steven (Louise) Spec-
tor, Anita (Mark) Mellen, Jef-
frey (fiancee, Stacey Wallach)

Seidman, Barbara (Ed) Gude-
man, Roger (Sandy) Henkin,
Lawrence (Debbie) Harwood;

Clover Hill Park Cemetery
Chapel in Birmingham, fol-
lowed by interment at the

ROSE IKRYKUN, 91, of Novi,
died May 19. Mrs. Krykun was
the beloved wife of the late
Nathan Krykun. She is sur-
vived by many loving nieces
and nephews. Memorial contri-

brew Memorial Park. Arrange-

ABRAHAM LEWIS, 82, of
Clinton Township, died May
16. Mr. Lewis was a retired De-
troit Sanitation Department
foreman. He is survived by his
wife, Betty; sons, Thomas J. of
Roseville, Mark of Venice,
Calif., David of Clinton Town-
ship; grandson, Stephen Lewis;
