Just a stone's throw from the
thick of Birmingham action,
Norm's relaxed atmosphere and
good food are the perfect respite
from the downtown grind. Out-
side seating for full meals only
at this Yuppie hangout. The
pasta lemon chicken won an in-
formal poll of Norman's most
popular dish, but there's a little
something for everyone here.

Plaza Deli: 29145 North-
western Hwy., Southfield;
(810) 356-2310.
This is definitely the spot to
be seen in the summer at
lunchtime. Executives, house-
wives and workmen all gather
here for the complete deli menu.

Rocky's of Northville:
41122 W. Seven Mile,
Northville; (810) 349-4434.
This is a Rachwitz and Chuck
Muer restaurant. The black
bean soup, potato encrusted
whitefish and a glass of Muer
Cellars Sauvignon blanc wine
are big hits. The fresh fish and
seafood are tops.

River Crab: 1337 N. River
Rd., St. Clair; (810) 329-2237.
There are many chefs specials
at the River Crab. The char-
grilled mahi mahi and blue mar-
lin are superior along with the
cedar planked salmon and pota-
to encrusted whitefish.

Tre Lune: 7117 Fieldcrest,
Green Oak Township; (810)
220-3533.
Dining is truly elegant at Tre
Lune. The Tre Lune dishes are
exceptional. The veal Tre Lune
consists of veal sauteed with
mushrooms, hearts of palm,
fresh green grapes with rich
Reisling Auslese wine. The
melanzana Tre Lime appetizer
features medallions of eggplant
breaded and baked with a blend
of spinach and gourmet cheeses.

Vineyards Cafe and Cater-
ing: 32418 Northwestern
Hwy., Farmington Hills; (810)
737-5190.
In addition to the fine cater-
ing services, the Vineyards pro-
vides umpteen sandwiches and
salads, many beautifully dis-
played in a glass case. Shirley
Bloom's superb Jewish cooking
is also available. The fat-free
desserts are as tempting as the
ones filled with calories. ❑
