Institute for Advanced Studies in
Farmington Hills can supply a
bachelor's degree in a variety of
subjects.
Lubavitch pre-schooling is of-
fered to children in metro Detroit
at the Ganeinu school on
Middlebelt and Long Lake roads
and provides a mother-toddler
program, pre-school classes and
a kindergarten.
Ganeinu, meaning "Our
Garden," will be the feeder school
to Bais Menachem Academy. It
will continue to offer the pre-
school and kindergarten pro-
grams as long as there is a
demand for them, Mrs. Bergstein
said.

Bais Menachem is
the newest day
school.

"There has been a demand on
the part of the parents. There has
been a genuine interest in hav-
ing something like this and as
long as there is, we will try to pro-
vide for those needs," Mrs.
Bergstein said.
While Bais Menachem
Academy is offering what other
day schools in the area already
have, a half-day each of Hebrew
learning and secular education,
local officials do not see it as corn-
petition.
Stuart Sandweiss, a parent of
children at Darchei Torah, said
he was pleased that more Judaic
education was available in the
area.
"As a parent, I am always en-
couraged by the growth of Jewish
education," he said.
Barry Eisenberg, executive di-
rector of Akiva Hebrew Day
School, said Lubavitch families
send their children to both the
Akiva elementary and high
school. But he doesn't see the new
school as a threat to enrollment
levels at Akiva, adding that he
hasn't had enough exposure to
the new school to compare cur-
riculum or philosophy. 11]
