Fisher Plans
New Season

Bob Alper

Rabbi Bob Alper will entertain at
Congregation Beth Achim's Club
Night, Sunday, June 11, at 7:30
p.m. at the sunagogue.
The ticket price of $25 in ad-
vance and $30 at the door inl-
cudes hors d'ouevres, wine and a
dessert bar.
Rabbi Alper is a practicing cler-
gyman doing stand-up comedy.
His contemporary style appeals
to everyone.
A native of Providence Rhode
Island, Rabbi Alper is a graduate
of Legigh University, was or-
dained at Hebrew Union College
in Cincinnati and is the first Jew-
ish person ever to earn a doctor-
ate from Princeton Theological
Seminary. He served con-
gregations in Buffalo and
Philadelphia.

JFS Hosts
Annual Meeting

Jewish Family Service will host
its annual meeting and election
of officers on Thursday, June 8,
beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Con-
gregation Adat Shalom.
This year's meeting will ac-
knowledge the recent decision to
merge Resettlement Service and
Jewish Family Service. The his-
tory of Resettlement Service will
be presented and the staff, board
of directors and volunteers will
be honored. Additionally, the an-
nual Employee-of-the-Year and
Volunteers-of-the-Year awards
will be presented.
The community is invited to at-
tend.

The Oakland Community Col-
lege Symphony Band and Youth
Bands will perform spring con-
certs later this month at 8 p.m.
in the Student Center Arena of
OCC's Highland Lakes Campus.
Admission to both performances
is free.
The Symphony Band will play
Friday, May 19. The works Uni-
versal Judgement by Camillo De
Nardis and Havendance by
David Holsinger will be featured.
The Youth Band will perform
on Friday, May 26. Made up of
players from 12 area high
schools, the ensemble will per-
form a variety of works.
The Highland Lakes Campus
is located at 7350 Cooley Lake
Road in Waterford.

Summer Sounds

Singer/entertainer Mel Torme
will perform at Pine Knob Sat-
urday, June 10, at 7:30 p.m. Tick-

the Spinners, Junior Walker and
Mary Wilson of the Supremes,
will perform at Pine Knob Fri-
day, June 23, at 7 p.m. Tickets
are $22.00 pavilion and $12.50
lawn.
