Rose Meskin

Rose D. Meskin, 79, of West Bloomfield, died
on May 4. Mrs. Meskin was a 1933 graduate
of Central High School. She was active with
ORT, Yad Ezra, Hadassah, Sinai Hospital
Guild, National Council of Jewish Women,
Meals on Wheels. In addition, she was a past
president of the Pisgah Chapter of B'nai B'rith
and the Women's Guild at Tam O'Shanter. She
was bat mitvah at Congregation Shaarey Zedek
on her 50th wedding anniversary in 1986 and
was a life honarary board member of the sis-
terhood. Mrs. Meskin was the dear sister of
the late Ruth Greenbaum.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years,
Julius; sons and daughters-in-law, Russell and
Annette of West Bloomfield, Kenneth B. and
Aleta of Bloomfield Hills; daughter and son-in-
law, Gayle and Ira Feldman of Arlington
Heights, Ill.; grandchildren, Michelle and
Michael Martin, Barbara Meskin, Lorin, Mar-

MORRIS ASHER, 76, former
Detroiter of Fern Park, Fla.,
died April 13. Mr. Asher was a
memebr of the Labor Zionist
Organization of America. He is
survived by his wife, Esther of
Fern Park; son, Joshua of Par-
adise Valley, Ariz.; daughter,
Rosalind Friedman of Long-
wood, Fla.; brother, Arthur of
Sarasota, Fla.; grandchildren,
Jason, Allison, Deborah, Ben-
jamin. Arrangements by the
Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel
in Orlando.

OLIVER JACK BARNES, 75,
formerly of Southfield of Defray
Beach, Fla., died May 2. Mr.
Barnes founded Barnes Dental
Laboratory in 1940. He was
honored with the employee
award of the Michigan Associa-
tion of Commercial Dental Lab-
oratories. Mr. Barnes was an
avid bridge player and a life
master.
He is survived by his wife,
Ann; son, Alan of Highland,
Mich.; daughters and son-in-
law, Iris and Douglas Stokes of
Paoli, Pa., Peggy of East Lans-
ing; sister and brother-in-law,
Anne and Peter Polinsky of
Oak Park; granddaughter,
Rachel Stokes. Services were
held at the Clover Hill Park
Cemetery Chapel in Birming-
ham folowed by interment at
the cemetey. Contributions
may be made to a charity of
one's choice. Arrangements by
the Dorfman Funeral Direction.

DR. BERNARD BLOCH, 77,
of Granada Hills, Calif., former-
ly of Detroit, died May 5. Dr.
Bloch was an osteopath who re-
tired in 1988 after practicing 50
years; 30 years in Detroit with
a private general practice. He
was also a member of the
Michigan and American Associ-

cie and Ross Meskin, Blair Feldman, Eric Feld-
man, Adam Feldman; great-granddaughter,
Deena Martin; brother and sister-in-law,
George and Ruth Canvasser of Calif.

A main part of her life was
involvement in community
causes and organizations.

Interment at Clover Hill Park Cemetery.

DR. ERWIN A. BORTMAN,
83, former Detroiter of Phoenix,
Ariz., died May 5. He is sur-
vived by his wife Marilyn; sons
and daughter-in-law, David,
Michael and Gudrun, all of Los
Angeles; grandchildren,
Nicholas and Jessica. Memorial
contributions may be directed

vices and interment were held
at Hebrew Memorial Park

SIMMY CHERNOFF, 78, of
Oak Park, died May 3. Ms.
Chernoff was a salesclerk for
Winkelmans from 1967-1979.
She was the dear sister of the
late Nessie Cohen. Ms. Cher-
noff is survived by her daugh-
ters, Audrey of Oak Oak, Janis
Chernoff Sachs of Oak Park;
grandson, Benjamin Sachs; sis-
ter, Jean Morguloff of Farming-
ton Hills. Interment at Mach-
pelah Cemetery. Memorial

SANDRA "SANDI" DRUK-
ER CLEMENTS, 51, of Troy,
died May 4. Mrs. Clements was
a dedicated and well loved
teacher in the Warren Consoli-
dated School System where she
taught for over 25 years. She
was a graduate of Michigan
State University and was a
member of Sigma Delta Tau
Sorority. She received her mas-
ter of education from the Uni-
versity of Michigan. Mrs.
Clements was an active mem-
ber of the Detroit Yacht Club
and served as chairman of the
Commodore's Ball in 1994. She
was also the chairman of the
Detroit Yacht Club's annual
Art Fair in 1993 and 1994. She
was a member of the Foreign
Exchange Student organization
in Troy sponsoring a student,
Fell Meyer from Germany, for

husband, Norman; father,
William Druker; stepdaugh-
ters, Catherine and Cynthia;
