Bat Ayin is a small town of over 60 families, which is part of the Gush Etzion Block of Judea and Samaria, which was adopted by Bais Chabad Torah Center over one year ago. - In his position as spiritual leader, Rabbi Co- hen oversees all religious and educational pro- jects within the community. Rabbi Cohen will discuss "The Challenges And Inherent Dan- gers Of Living In a West Bank Town." The New York-born rabbi is presently on tour in the United States. Bais Chabad Torah Center will hold a new weekly class on the prophets. Rabbi Elimelech Silberberg will lead the class at 8 p.m. Thurs- day nights beginning May 4. Sunday, May 7 Beth Shalom Aids Immigrants C ongregation Beth Shalom in Oak Park will host its first congregational shower for new Americans at the synagogue, 10:30 a.m., Sunday, April 30. In conjunction with Jewish Re- settlement Service's community-wide effort to resettle an estimated 500 new immigrants from the former Soviet Union in the coming year, Beth Shalom has earmarked a significant num- ber of volunteers and building space for the collection of new household items that will be dis- tributed to new Americans. The shower gill include a brief presentation and HIAS tape describing the immigration process and Detroit's resettlement efforts, desserts and coffee. The community is encouraged to partici- pate. There is no charge but reservations are required and each guest should bring a new household item, like bed and bath linens, cleaning supplies, set of dishes, flatware, toasters, telephones, dust busters and pots and pans. The theme for this shower is "Making a House a Home" and the morning's hosts have committed themselves to support this endeavor.
