he Jewish Community
Council's annual meeting
will feature a forum on
building ethnic and reli-
gious coalitions.
Moderated by TV-2 anchor
Jerry Hodak, the forum, titled
"Partnerships That Work: Build-
ing Coalitions in the New Politi-
cal Reality," will feature a panel
of some of the area's religious and
ethnic leaders.

The speakers slated for the
event include Victor Berg, pres-
ident of the Muslim American Al-
liance; Sister Monica Kostielney,
chief executive officer and presi-
dent of the Michigan Catholic
Conference; Rudy Redmond,
president of the South Oakland
branch of the NAACP; and Jane
Shallal, president of the
Chaldean Federation of Ameri-
ca.
The program will examine the
importance of coalition building
and the potential future of such
alliances between the Jewish
community and other ethnic and
religious groups.
The program is free and open
to the public. It will take place at
7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, at
Temple Israel. ❑
