The Jewish population of
greater Oklahoma City accounts
for 2,500 of the area's 1 million
residents. More than 60 local
Jewish volunteers are on call
around the clock to provide food
and other necessities to relief
workers.
Ms. Roodman says phone calls
and faxes are pouring into her of-
fice. Earlier this week, a Jewish
man living on the West Coast
pledged $10,000 with the
promise that his community will
donate another $20,000 soon.
The money, Ms. Roodman says,
likely will go toward rebuilding
the YMCA day-care center across
the street from the federal build-
ing. The day-care program, which
served the downtown area, also
was destroyed in last week's in-
cident, but thankfully no lives
were lost, Ms. Roodman says.
B'nai B'rith International has
established a relief fund. On
Monday, nearly 1,000 checks ar-
rived in the mail. They totaled
$40,000.

"We've received
unbelievable
support."

B'nai B'rith has spearheaded
disaster relief campaigns since
1868. Recently, the organization
raised $40,000 for victims of
Japan's deadly gas attacks. In
July 1993, Americans donated
$250,000 to B'nai B'rith for Mid-
west flood relief.
"We figure we'll raise at least
$100,000 for victims of Oklahoma
City," said Lisa Goldman, assis-
tant to the director of B'nai B'rith
community volunteer services. ❑

Discount Prices = Reduced Value

FREE, 20% off, $1 off, 3 for 2, etc. Many
deals are offered but the fact remains that dis-
counted prices are made possible only by dis-
counted services. Only by offering less can a
dry cleaner charge less. At MY Cleaners we
never discount our service.

One of the many reasons why knowledgeable
