DOUG GOTTLIEB, considered
the premier high-school point
guard in the western United
States, has signed a letter of in-
tent to play basketball at Notre
Dame University.
While he was at Notre Dame
during his official visit, Gottlieb
visited with GUS ORNSTEIN,
a quarterback on the Irish foot-
ball team.
Ornstein's father, Steve, and
Gottlieb's father, Bob, were
members of the Sigma Alpha Mu
fraternity at Syracuse Universi-
ty.
Doug Gottlieb is a 6-foot-1,
185-pounder who averaged 19.4
points and 10 assists per game
this past season for Tustin
(Calif.) High School. Tustin fin-
ished 28-3.

ton Hills won the Half-Marathon
in 1:10.55. Ann Boyd, 31, of Ann
Arbor was the first woman across
the finish line in 1:17.16. The
course records are 1:07.32 by
Doug Kurtis of Northville and
1:15.57 by Cheri Sly of Dexter.
Both marks were set in 1989.
A kids run, sponsored by Hen-
ry Ford Maplegrove Centers, was
held before the Half-Marathon. ❑
