Dr. Gerald Loomus and Dr. Burton Weintraub

Dr. Gerald Loomus and Dr.
Burton Weintraub have joined
the medical staff of Sinai Hospi-
tal. Their practice is located in
Southfield. Both physicians spe-
cialize in internal medicine. Dr.
Loomus, of West Bloomfield, is a
fellow in the American College
of Physicians and the American
Society of Clinical Oncology, a
diplomat of the American Board
of Internal Medicine and board-
certified in medical oncology.
Dr. Weintraub, of Farmington
Hills, is a member of the Ameri-
can Medical Society, the Michi-
gan State Medical Society and
the Wayne County Medical So-
ciety. He served a residency in
internal medicine at Sinai.

Dr. Michael Sandler of Henry
Ford Hospital has been installed
as president of the Michigan Ra-
diological Society. He has been a
member of the board of trustees
of the society for many years. Dr.
Sandler also is chairman of the
group's resident affairs commit-
tee.

Kathy Yaffe of Bloomfield Hills
was recently elected to the board
of directors of the Michigan
Parkinson Foundation. In 1994
Ms. Yaffe served as cochair with
her husband, Fred, of MPF's Spe-
cial Event, which was the most
successful in the foundation's his-
tory, raising more than $173,000.

Jonathan B. Shapiro has been
appointed assistant vice presi-
dent of the Ambulatory Services
Division of Sinai Hospital. Prior
to joining Sinai, Mr. Shapiro
served as the senior director of
operations for the Detroit Med-
ical Center Health Care Centers.
His professional affiliations in-
clude the American College of
Health Care Executives, the So-

ciety of Ambulatory Care Pro-
fessionals and the Medical Group
Management Association. He re-
ceived a master's degree in
health administration from Duke
University and a bachelor's de-
gree from Brown University.

Dr. Roger Kushner and Dr.
Jerry Markowitz have joined
the medical staff of Sinai Hospi-
tal. Both specialize in obstetrics
and gynecology. Their practice,
which includes Melissa Nassar,
is located in Redford.

Ronnie Tobin has been ap-
pointed vice president of Quali-
ty Management at Sinai
Hospital. Prior to joining Sinai,
Ms. Tobin served as vice presi-
dent of Hamot Health Founda-
tion in Erie, Pa. She also worked
with the Henry Ford Medical
Group. Her professional and civic
affiliations include serving on the
boards of Life Care Home Ser-
vices and the Erie County Rape
Crisis Center. She received a
master's degree in health plan-
ning and administration from
Boston College and a bachelor's
degree in psychology from Lake
Forest College.

Dr. Jeffrey Taub, assistant pro-
fessor at Wayne State Universi-
ty, is the recipient of a Young
Investigator Award from the
American Society of Clinical On-
cology. Dr. Taub, associate hema-
tologist and oncologist at
Children's Hospital of Michigan,
is conducting his leukemia re-
search at the Michigan Cancer
Foundation. Dr. Taub is a grad-
uate of Western Ontario Medical
School and completed his resi-
dency and fellowship programs
at Children's Hospital of Michi-
gan.
