\,= (7) We live in a time when the word "love" falls lightly on the lips, but often seems absent in human relationships. All too of- ten, "love" refers to transitory feel- ing and momentary impulse. We, the Jewish people, bear a different message. Of all the songs of love, the eternal romance of the Jewish people, bear a dif- ferent message. Of all the songs of love, the eternal romance of the Jewish people is our Shir Ha- Shiriin, our Song of Songs. May we experience its rapture. ❑ Scholar Weekend At B'nai Moshe Congregation B'nai Moshe will present its scholar in res- idence weekend, May 5-7. The theme is "An Introspective Weekend: Sacred Moments in a Chaotic World." The featured speaker will be Rabbi William Lebeau, vice-chancellor of the Jewish Theological Seminary and dean of the Rabbinical School. Have you hugged a volunteer today? Day in and day out, volunteers make a difference. They bring joy to the lives of the aged, extend a hand to new immigrants, offer friendship to people with disabilities. They are the extra eyes, ears and hands so necessary to our Jewish Federation and community agencies. Volunteers provide counsel, raise funds, run errands, sit on committees, lend clerical help, stuff envelopes, develop programs, file archival materials, answer phones, chart plans for the community's future. And more. Volunteers are not always recognized. Often, they work quietly behind the scenes, performing community ser- vice in many ways that are unseen by the public. Volunteers provide the special ingredient that defines the unique quality of our Detroit Jewish community.
