its executive director.
Isaac Lakritz, executive direc-
tor for four and a half years at the
Detroit support arm for Technion
- Israel institute of Techno-
ogy, told his
board in Jan-
uary that it
is time for
him "to pur-
sue other op-
portunities."
He will be
replaced on
May 1 by
Allen Juris,
who for the
last six years
has served as
executive of
the Windsor
Jewish Fed-
eration and
Jewish Com-
munity Cen-
tre. From
1980-1989,
Dr. Juris Allen Juris: Returning.
was plan-
ning director at the Jewish Fed-
eration of Metropolitan Detroit.
"My roots in the Federation
world are in fund-raising, and I'm
glad to come back to that," Dr. Ju-
ris said. "There are a lot of people
I like and enjoy in Detroit and

an opportunity to
re-energize."
Dr. Juris planned the recently
announced $2 million renovation
of the Windsor JCC. During his
six years, use of the building
tripled. He also initiated use of

outside agencies to provide ser-
vices at the attached Peretz se-
nior citizen residence.
He said the next stage for the
Windsor JCC is maintenance and
operations, "and my strength is
in being a visionary."
Mrs. Juris' job brought the cou-
ple to Windsor. Gail Juris is

deputy chief executive officer for
the Windsor Public Library.
Their daughter Rachel last
month celebrated her bat mitz-
vah.
Mr. Lakritz said he is leaving
Technion "on a high note. The
profile and perception
of our chapter has
grown immensely."
While his plans have
not finalized, he said
he will continue to
work and live in the
Detroit area.
During the last four
years, "the perception
of Israel has changed.
Israel is not starving
children. It is pro-
gressive, scientific,
with the highest
growth rate."
He said, "My
tenure coincided with
looking forward to Is-
rael's future, instead
of backward at Israel's
wars."
Jim Deutchman,
president of the De-
troit chapter of Tech-
nion, said Mr. Lakritz
has done many things
"to bring the Technion into the
mainstream. He was seen
throughout the national organi-
zation as an innovator and
a person who gets people in-
volved." 0
