Borders Hosts
Book Events

Borders Books and Music in
Farmington Hills will welcome
native Detroiter Esther M.
Broner, discussing and signing
her titles, including her newest,
Mouniings and M0177ing on Mon-
day, April 10, at 7 p.m.
The book is about her father,
Paul Masserman, and how she
deals with his death, including
saying Kaddish for him in an Or-
thodox synagogue where women
do not share equal status with
men. It also shows evidence of the
ongoing battle of the right to wor-
ship as one sees fit, to invade or
create sacred space.
A former Wayne State Uni-
versity professor of English. Ms.
Broner lives in New York City.
She is the author of eight books.
Borders Books and Music and
the Detroit Chapter of Women in
Communications will host a re-
ception to meet author Berl Fal-
baum, discussing the signing
copies of his book The Definitive

Guide to Organizational Bak-
stabbing on Tuesday, April 18, at

7:30 p.m.
This tongue-in-cheek guide
provides all sorts of up-to-the-
minute techniques to advance a
career.
Mr. Falbaum has taught jour-
nalism part time at Wayne State
University since 1968.
Borders will sponsor three
book discussion groups in April.
One group focuses on Jewish au-
thors and topics, one on general
literature, and one on gay/lesbian
issues and authors.
Jewish Authors and Topics
will meet Monday, April 17, at
7:30 p.m. to discuss He, She and
It by Marge Piercy.
The gay and lesiab book group
will meet Monday, April 24, at
7:30 p.m., to discuss Place At The
Table by Bruce Bawer.
The general literature group
