Essay Winners

CHAIM, Children of Holocaust-
survivors Association in Michi-
gan, recently held its tenth
annual writing competition.
Some 178 high school students
addressed the topic: "Discuss
what made it possible for the
Holocaust to occur, and why is
the study of the Holocaust rele-
vant to students today?"
Contest winners were: First
place, John Posch, Lahser High
School; second place, Praveen
Danda-mudi, Detroit Country
Day School; third place, Corey
Risch, Williamston High School.
Honorable mention was
awarded to Lori Baron, Andover
High School; Kevin Tolin-Schep-
er, Ann Arbor Pioneer High
School; Martin Rawls-Meehan,
Detroit Country Day; Nikkiya M.
Koval, Bridgeport High School;
and Lisa Cunningham, Ferndale
High School.
All 178 participants received
an engraved certificate from
CHAIM.
John Posch's winning essay,
"Finding a Reason in Wrong,"
will be read at the Capitol in
Lansing at the Yom Hashoah
commemoration ceremony on
April 26.
