He found time in those 15 games to average 22.4 points, making him one of the highest scorers in Oakland County. Ja- cob has been touted as one of the best seniors-to-be in the county, and Andover coach Ed Oku- niewski doesn't disagree. By the end of the round, he led the field of 53 competitors. "If Jeff can bulk up a little bit, which would help his confidence, the sky's the limit," Okuniews- ki said. "He's the most talented player I've coached in my 10 years at Andover. "Jeff can score at will on jumpers, off the dribble and by taking the ball to the hole. Plus, he's a phenomenal ball-handler." Andover senior Dan Kukes also took part in the 3-point con- test at Troy. Paired with Jacob in the first round, Kukes scored just six points and he didn't make it to the semifinals. ❑ Breakfast Club Kicks Off At JCC STEVE STEIN STAFF WRITER • WET SUITS More than 50 participants took part in the Jewish Community Center Fitness and Breakfast Club kickoff last month at the Maple-Drake branch in West Bloomfield. The noise cascaded down from the bleachers while Jacob was scoring 25 of a possible 30 points in the first round of the 3-point shooting contest in the Oakland County Slam Dunk and 3-Point Shoot-Out on March 31. By the end of the round, Jacob led the field of 53 competitors. Unfortunately, the 6-foot-3 junior guard slipped to five points in the semifinals, which included the top 12 scorers from the first round, and he was eliminated. Jacob's 25-point explosion turned out to be the best score recorded during the entire 3-point contest. - "I was more nervous in the semifinals, and that made a dif- ference," Jacob said. "In the first round, I just went out and shot the ball without thinking about it because I didn't think I'd do that well. I really surprised myself. "I guess I'm more disappoint- ed about the semifinals than I am excited about the first round. Af- ter scoring 25 points, I expected to do better than five points."
