OREN KAYEMETH tEISRAEI

have been writing the President's Column for some time and periodically I've chosen to write about
the advantages that our Deferred Gift Programs offer to potential donors. I think this topic is impor-
tant and worthy of repetition because of the wonderful and unique financial benefits to both JNF as
well as to the potential plan participants.
With individual income tax brackets approaching 40%, deductible charitable contributions can provide
significant tax advantages, something that is certainly on our minds during tax filing season. The JNF De-
ferred Gift Programs, however, can provide substantial additional benefits to both you and your heirs. For example, establish-
ing a Charitable Remainder Trust can provide annual income, remove uncertainty from your ongoing investment decisions,
reduce potential Federal Estate Taxes, and establish an important charitable donation with the Jewish National Fund.
Here's How it works:
You take a sum of money currently invested at low rates and donate it to the JNF. In return, JNF will establish a fixed annu-
ity payable quarterly for the rest of your life. The amount of the payment will depend on the amount donated and your age
and sex, but the rate of return will be much higher than any comparable CD or similar investment available.
In summary, establishing a Charitable Remainder Trust with JNF will:
1. Provide a stable, reliable income source you will never outlive.
2. Provide you with a current Federal Income Tax deduction.
3. Reduce your exposure to Federal Estate Tax.
4. Furnish resources to enable JNF to continue its much needed work for our fellow Jews in Israel.
It is particularly gratifying to note that many of our JNF supporters have inquired about these programs and that a number
of these Deferred Gift Programs have been established over the past year. As more and more people have taken the time to
find out about the many advantages of these programs, the number of programs established has increased strongly. In each
case, the donor has discovered that the program set up and structured to the donor's specific situation will produce competi-
tive income yields to the donor, Federal Income Tax deductions and Federal Estate Tax benefits, and support for all the im-
portant work of the JNF.
Based on my experience working with donors who have set up Deferred Gift Programs with JNF, I know you will be doing
yourself a favor by getting the facts to help you decide how you can derive the benefits these programs offer. Please call the
JNF office at 557-6644 and ask for Ed Rosenthal to find out more.
On behalf of all of us at the Jewish national Fund, I wish you and yours a happy, healthy, and kosher Passover
