designated a certified fund spe-
cialist (CFS) by the Institute of
Certified Fund Specialists in Cal-
ifornia.
The designation is conferred
upon individuals who complete
an advanced educational pro-
gram that covers investing in
open-end funds, closed-end funds,
fixed and variable annuities, real-
estate investment trusts and
unit-investment trusts.
Only 29 financial advisors in
Michigan have earned the CFS
status.
Ms. Gold attended James

Africa Israel
Profits Fall

Africa Israel Investments com-
pleted 1994 with a 52 percent
drop in net profits to NIS 62.93
million from NIS 130.28 million.
The company said 1993 earn-
ings included one-time gains of
NIS 57.9 million resulting from
Africa Israel Hotels' offering of
shares.
Africa Israel Investments gen-
eral manager Shlomo Grofman
said the group's profits from real
estate and hotels increased in
1994, but profits from its insur-
ance activities fell.
