Reconstructionist
Rabbi Speaks

Congregation T'chiyah, the
only synagogue in the Detroit
area affiliated with the
national Reconstructionist
Movement, will host Rabbi
David A. Teutsch, president
of the Reconstructionist
Rabbinical College.
Dr. Teutsch will speak on
"Continuity, Challenge and
Change: Judaism for the Next
Century," at 2 p.m., Sunday,

Reconstructionists define
Judaism as the evolving reli-
gious civilization of the
Jewish people embracing his-
tory, tradition, liturgy, music,
literature and art.
Dr. Teutsch became presi-
dent of the Reconstructionist
Rabbinical College in 1993.
He is the editor in chief of the
Kol Haneshmah prayer book
series.
Congregation T'chiyah was
founded 18 years ago. In
addition to weekly Sabbath
services at the synagogue
located in the Greektown
area of Detroit, T'chiyah
holds outreach services once a
month at the Agency for
Jewish Education Building in
Southfield.
