In 1937, Mr. Steinman be- came the founder of Walker In- ternational, Inc., which was one of the first American companies to import sporting goods from the Orient. Mr. Steinman was responsi- ble for establishing the baseball glove industry in Japan. He was a member of the National Sporting Goods Association and the Amnerican Fishing Tackle Manufacturers Association. Mr. Steinman was an active sup- porter of the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Detroit Symphony, JARC, Probus, the Sol Needle- man Foundation. He was a member of Congregation Shaarey Zedek. Mr. Steinman is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ethel Steinman; sons and daughters- in-law, Howard and Barbara of New Rochelle, N.Y., Kenneth and Frances of Birmingham; grandchildren, Rachel, Susan, Joshua and Amy Steinman; brother, Abraham "Red" and Martha of West Bloomfield; sis- ters-in-law and brother-in-law, Lillian Schwartz Gold, Rosalee Scott and David and Jane Schwartz.
