' STEVE STEIN STAFF WRITER All Events Gross articipating in the B'nai B'rith Women's Bowling Association of Metropolitan De- troit leagues is fun. Teams wouldn't call themselves names like the Pinheads, the Gutter Gals and Schleps if everything was all business. But there are times when the compe- tition gets serious, like the city tourna- ment. The 45th annual tourney took place March 11-12 at Drakeshire Lanes in Farmington Hills and 26 teams from nine leagues rolled six games in two days during the spring-like week- end. Each team was made up of five women. Normally, the tournament is held at an estab- lishment where none of the B'nai B'rith leagues bowl. But because of the closing last summer of West Bloomfield Lanes, the tourney ended up where the Galilee Tuesday league competes. Surprisingly or not, teams from Galilee Tuesday swept the top two spots and three of the first four places in the team gross series competition at the tournament. Some 66 team and individual awards earned at the tournament were presented at a banquet held last Sun- day at B'nai Moshe. Also at the banquet, the new association officers for the 1995-96 season were installed. They are Caron Goldfine (president), Helene Friedman (first vice presi- dent), Cindy Moss (second vice president), Carolyn Fine (treasurer) and Sharon Winans (secretary). Barbara Geller is the 1994-95 president. Other offi- cers for this season are Ms. Goldfine (first vice president and tournament chairwoman), Ms. Friedman (second vice president and tournament banquet chairwoman), Ms. Moss (treasurer) and Ms. Fine (secretary and scor- ing chairwoman).
