Dining at the Whitney is a
great experience ... something
that remains as a cherished
memory ... People who go back
time and again sometimes like to
play a game ... which room to sit
in the next time.
The Whitney has been re-
garded as a wonderful dining ad-
venture, but is much more than
that ... and people should look
upon it as a two-fold visit ... They
are actually visiting an elegant
historic museum with much
grandeur to see.
Gentlemen like John Mc-
Carthy and Ron Fox are proud
restaurateurs ... but no proud-
er than we are of them for what
they have given us.
"LET'S GO Krogering" says
the company, so we did, and
discovered a new kind of concept
for the organization, the first of
its kind nationally ... Three
stores in the local area have a for-
mat called Kroger Premier ...
Maple and Lahser, Long Lake
and Telegraph, and Maple and
Telegraph.
Kroger Premier is a shopping
experience to bring smiles to the
gourmand ... with a book wine
list of its fine selections and, if
necessary, a machine for folks to
take their wine home or wherev-
er chilled within seven minutes.
The rich-looking decor is cou-
pled with a dress code that de-
notes the employees as working
in a premier store ... Customers
can get chicken dinners to take
duckling with wild rice, pears home, live lobsters from tanks,
and mushroom strudel, or New prepared entrees and breads that
Zealand rack of lamb stuffed with include some from Matt Pren-
veal, eggplant and spinach on a tice's Sourdough Bread Factory,
warm bean salad, or grilled its noted two-pound health oven
swordfish with eggplant chips, breads like rosemary and olive
artichoke, wasabi pepper sauce, oil, tomato and basil, etc. ... plus
or sauteed pecan crusted white- Zeman's kosher challah, 11 types
fish, or the trio of grilled fish: of torte cakes, etc.
It even has fresh herbs and
salmon, whitefish and swordfish
with basmati champagne, citrus spices, 17 kinds of mushrooms,
11 types of peppers, edible flow-
apple sauce, etc.
The separate dessert menu, ers ... (By the way, did you know
which has made the Whitney a that Kroger was the largest
favorite place to go after theater, florist in the nation?) luscious-
is from its own on-premise bake looking prime fresh meats,
shop ... 'The World's Best Choco- seafood, a cheese shop to make
late Melting Cake," served warm the cheese lover drool, etc. ...
