The mikvah is not a new concept to
Temple Israel members. "We have
been using a mikvah for 20 years" for
conversions, Rabbi Loss said, "and we
felt it was important to bring it into
our own setting." The temple used
Rabbi Charles Rosenzveig of the near-
by Holocaust Memorial Center as a
consultant. He also supervised the fill-
ing of the mikvah.
The mikvah area includes the rit-
ual bath, a dressing area, shower fa-
cilities and makeup area, as well as a
room where rainwater is mixed with
purified water. The mikvah is ex-
pected to be used for conversions for
the first time in April. ❑
