Weizmann Institute scientist Pro-
fessor Nathan Sharon will be the
speaker at the University of
Michigan and the guest of the De-
troit Committee for the Weiz-
mann Institute.
His speech will be held at 7:30
p.m. Monday, March 27, at the
Skyline Club in Southfield. Reser-
vations are mandatory.
Professor Sharon is chairman
emeritus of the department ofbio-
physics at the Weizmann Insti-
tute of Science in Rehovot, Israel.
A native of Poland, he emigrat-
ed to Israel in 1934. In collabo-
ration with other Weizmann
scientists, he has developed a new
method to facilitate bone-marrow
transplantation with unmatched
donors.
The treatment has been used on
"bubble children" with immune de-
ficiency disease. This method is
now being used successfully in lim-
ited trials for the treatment of
leukemia patients.
Professor Sharon has been a
visiting scientist at the National
Institutes of Health, the Univer-
sity of California at Santa Bar-
bara, Oxford University in
England, the Albert Einstein Col-
lege of Medicine in New York,
Harvard Medical School and the
College de France in Paris. He is
the recipient of several national
and international prizes includ-
ing the prestigious Israel Prize in
