Commemoration
In Lansing

The official Michigan Holocaust
Commemoration will be held
Wednesday, April 26, at the
Capital Rotunda in Lansing.
Governor John Engler and other
statewide elected officials and leg-
islators will speak at the cere-
mony to be held from noon to 1
p.m. Following the ceremony,
participants may have lunch and
meet with legislators to discuss
areas of interest to Jewish peo-
ple. A reception with all state leg-
islators will follow at 5 p.m. There
is a charge.

"Dimensions of Denial and
Discovery," a seminar on teach-
ing the Holocaust and Armenian
Genocide, will be held from 8:30
a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, April
6, in the McGregor Memorial
Conference Center at Wayne
State University.
Keynote speaker Henry
Friedlander, history professor in
the Judaic studies department
at Brooklyn College of the
City University of New York,
will discuss "Documenting
Genocide."
Other speakers will include
Vahakn Dadrian, director of the
Genocide Study Project at the
Guggenheim Foundation in New
York, and WSU political science
Professor Otto Feinstein.
The program will provide
background and educational ma-
terials for educators to teach chil-
dren about the Holocaust and
Armenian Genocide. In addition,
educators will explain how they
incorporate the subjects into their
curriculum.
A resource display session will
include books, videos, teachers'
guides and artwork.
A fee includes lunch and con-
ference materials. Kosher and
vegetarian meals are available.
