Book Review

Public Forum
On Peace Process

The Sholem Aleichem Institute
will hold its Book Symposium-
Oneg Shabbat on Friday, March
31, at 8 p.m. at the Franklin
Pointe Clubhouse. The Secret
War Against the Jews by John
Loftus and Mark Aarons, a book
disclosing the West's betrayal of
Israel and the Jewish people
throughout the 20th century, will
be discussed by Dave Moscowitz,
Norma Shifrin, and Ruth Wald-
fogel.

Salay Meridor, a former adviser
to Israel's Ministers of Foreign
Affairs and Defense and a mem-
ber of the executive board of the
Jewish Agency and of the World
Zionist Organization, will ad-
dress a public forum on "Israel
and the Peace Process" Tuesday,
March 28, 7:30 p.m. at Congre-
gation Beth Achim.
A native of Jerusalem, Mr.
Meridor was a member of the Is-
raeli delegation to the Madrid,
Lisbon and Washington peace
conferences and was the head of
the steering committee appoint-
ed by the Minister of Defense to
prepare the ground-work for the
peace process. Mr. Meridor Also
helped formulate the 1989 peace
initiative and as head of the Set-
tlement Department of the
World Zionist Organization, he
was responsible for overseeing
143 villages in the Golan, the
Jordan Valley and Judea and
Samaria.
From 1986 to 1988, he was ad-
viser to the Israel Minister of Mi-
nority Affairs, drafting
government position on equali-
ty for the Druse population.
There is no admission charge
and public is invited. The forum
is sponsored by Metro Detroit
ZOA in cooperation with Con-
gregation Beth Achim.

A-Z Auction

Temple Kol Ami will sponsor the
Affordable A to Z Auction, Sat-

temple. This event will be a blue-
light auction, live auction and

Passover Fun
For Families

On Sunday April 2, families are
invited to participate in two com-
munity Passover events.
"Passover Pop-In" will be held
at the Jimmy Prentis Morris
Jewish Community Center from
2 - 4 p.m. Co-sponsored by the
Agency for Jewish Education's
Jewish Experiences for Families,
the Jewish Community Center
and The Jewish News, this event
will offer hands-on activities to
help families prepare for the hol-
iday. Laura Pershin, profession-
al storyteller, and Jeff Levin,
song leader, will entertain. There
is an admission of non-perish-
able Passover foods to be donat-
ed to Yad Ezra. Those who
register early will be eligible for
a six-month family general mem-
bership or birthday party dis-
count coupon to the JPM

Program Marks
Anniversary

On Saturday, March 25, at 7:30
p.m. at the Maple-Drake Jewish
Community Center, CHAIM-
Children of Holocaust-Survivors
Association In Michigan, will cel-
ebrate its 15th anniversary with
a special program and celebra-
tion. The speaker will be Helen
Epstein author of Children of the
Holocaust, followed by refresh-
ments, music, and Jewish danc-
ing.

Muslims, Jews

On Monday, March 27, at 8:30
p.m., Rabbi Sherwin Wine of the
Birmingham Temple will pre-
sent the fourth of four talks on
the theme, the Middle Ages:
Jews, Christian and Muslims
with "Jews in the Medieval
Muslim World." A discussion
will follow the presentation.
