The second annual L'Chaim-
palooza rock band concert will be
held 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 1,
at the Maple-Drake Jewish Com-
munity Center. Featured bands
will include Tate's Basement, Af-
fliction and Droogs.
Last year, L'Chaimpalooza at-
tracted more than 400 teens to
see the local bands and visit in-
formation booths staffed by po-
litical groups. The event was
named function of the year by the
International B'nai B'rith Youth
Organization. Canned goods were
donated to the Yad Ezra kosher
food bank and more than $1,000
contributed to BBYO and other
charities.
L'Chaim AZA will again host
the event. Tickets are $5, or $4 if
a canned food item is contributed.
The Beth Achim branch of the
Congregational Religious School
will prepare for Passover by
holding a model seder at the
synagogue, Sunday, April 9, at
11:30 a.m.
Students will present selec-
tions from the Hagaddah while
sampling traditional seder food
provided by the PTO. Parents
and friends are invited.

Marla Swartz, a junior at Lahser
High School and a member of
Congregation Shir Tikva, was
elected to the office of national
vice president for the North
American Federation of Temple
Youth (NFTY). She will serve as
the religious and cultural vice
president, a position she cur-
rently holds as a member of
NFTY's Michigan Region Exec-
utive Board.
Ms. Swartz has been a mem-
ber of NFTY for four years, be-
ginning in eighth grade as a
member of Shir Tikva's youth
group, TATY (Troy Area Temple
Youth). After her freshmen year,
she attended Kutz Camp,
NFTY's National Leadership
Camp in Warwick, N.Y.; and,
last summer, she went to Israel
on a NFTY Israel Safari Trip. As
a leader of her own youth group
and of the Michigan Region, she
has introduced creative and spir-
itual programs into NFTY and
has helped educate on the teach-
ings of the Reform Movement.
Special Needs
Teen Event
Tweens, a social, cultural and
recreation group for pre-teens
ages 10-14 years old with spe-
cial needs, will have an outing.
On Sunday, May 7, at noon, the
group will enjoy lunch at a local
restaurant followed by a round
of miniature golf.

Plan Gathering
Young adults will gather at 8
p.m., March 28, at the Old
Woodward Grill in Birmingham
for the monthly Young Adult Di-
vision Bar Night.
The popular community out-
reach program brings together
young adults in a relaxed and
hospitable atmosphere. The
Jewish Federation's YAD pro-
vides political awareness, social,
cultural and community out-
reach activities for single
and married Jewish young
adults throughout the tri-coun-
ty area.

Temple Israel
Holds Art Fair
Temple Israel Sisterhood will
hold its annual Art Fair Sunday
and Monday, March 26 and
27, at the temple. It will begin
with a gala Patrons-Only
Champagne Preview on Satur-
day, March 25, from 8 -11:30
p.m.
Art Fair showcases art objects
from local, national and inter-
national artisans. Refresh-
ments, served and prepared
by sisterhood members, will
be available during the fair
hours.
