Office Building of the Year
awards competition sponsored by
the Building Owners and Man-
agers Association (BOMA) of
Metropolitan Detroit.
Each building won in its cate-
gory because of outstanding
operations, emergency and hand-
icap procedures, tenant ameni-
ties and impact on the
community.
Etkin's winners are Timber-
land Two, Troy (under 100,000
square feet); City Center, South-
field (100,000 to 249,000 square
feet); Volkswagen of America,
Auburn Hills (250,000 to 500,000
square feet); Brookfield No. 3,
Farmington Hills (corporate fa-
cility); and Timberland Office
Park, Troy (suburban office park).
The Guardian Building in De-
troit won in the historical build-
ing category. That facility is
managed by Cushman & Wake-
field.
All these winners will be eligi-
ble for awards at BOMA Inter-
national's annual convention,
which will be held in June in
Denver.
Judges for the regional corn-
petition included committee
chairman Jack Cam raker of J.C.
Enterprises.

Star Southfield, a 170,000
square foot facility, will have 20
auditoriums and 6,000 seats,
making it the biggest movie com-
plex in Michigan. The two largest
auditoriums at Star Southfield
each will have 700 seats and a
screen more than 65 feet long.
The Star Southfield will be lo-
cated adjacent to the Galleria Of-
ficentre at 12 Mile and
Northwestern. The movie com-

for its advertisements for home
furnishings, housewares and light
bulbs in the 24th annual Inter-
national Mobius Advertising
Awards competition.
The Mobius acknowledged
Mars' 30-second radio spots called
"Back-Up," "Dimmer" and "Auto-
Off' which were produced for
Philips Lighting's IQ series.
These spots also took second
place in the non-automotive ra-
dio category in the Caddy corn-
petition sponsored by the Detroit
Adcraft Club.
The Mobius is considered one
of the five most important ad-
vertising competitions in the
world. It honors excellence in
broadcast, print and specialty ad-
vertising. In 1993, Mars placed
second in the competition.
