SIDNEY JOSEPH WALL, 81,
of Oak Park, died March 7. Mr.
Wall was born deaf, yet that con-
dition never defeated him. He
was a successful printer for the
Free Press and the Detroit News.
When those papers were on a pro-
longed strike, he and his wife took
a trailer on the road and made
their living in the cities they vis-
ited.
He is survived by his wife, Eve-
lyn; sisters, Ethel Heymanson of
Royal Oak, Lottie Wall of Detroit;
niece, Pauline (Abraham) Israel
of Grapevine, Texas. Graveside
services were held at Hebrew
Memorial Park Cemetery in Mt.
Clemens. Contributions may be
made to a charity of one's choice.

MELBA AGREE WISCH, 80,

of New York, formerly of Ohio
and Detroit, died March 7. Mrs.
Wisch was the beloved wife of the
late Sidney Wisch. She is sur-
vived by her daughters, Phyllis
and Kathy of New York; five
grandchildren; sisters and broth-
ers-in-law, Evelyn and Jack
Nover of Huntington Woods, Es-
telle and Max Miller of West
Bloomfield. Interment at the
Mayfield Cemetery in Cleveland.

Saddam Hussein
Welcomes Russian

Moscow (JTA) — In a visit to
Iraq, Russian ultranationalist
leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky met
with President Saddam Hussein
to discuss the creation of a coali-
tion between Orthodox Chris-
tians and Muslims to combat the
West.
"For three hours we discussed
world and local problems very
deeply" in addition to "relations
between the Orthodox Russian
community and the Muslim com-
munity," Mr. Zhirinovsky re-
portedly told the media.
Also during his trip, he signed
an agreement of cooperation be-
tween his party, the Liberal De-
mocratic Party, and Iraq's ruling
Ba'ath Party.
He was accompanied on his
three-day trip by a 50-member
delegation, including 20 Russian
parliamentary deputies.
Mr. Zhirinovsky, widely seen
as fascist and anti-Semitic, has
his eye on the Russian presiden-
cy. His new book, The Last Train
Car North, describes some of his
political views.
In recent weeks, Mr. Zhiri-
novsky has been one of the few
politicians who has publicly sup-
ported the government's contro-
versial war in Chechnya.
