At Maple-Drake

The Maple-Drake Jewish Corn-

munity Center will offer the fol-
lowing events. Starting on
Monday, March 27, at 1 p.m. will
be the series Great Jewish
Thinkers of the 20th Century:
Rabbi Yoskowitz of Congregation
Beth Achim will discuss "My
Mentor: Rabbi Jacob Agus, One
of the Great Jewish Conservative
Leaders of the Twentieth Centu-
ry.,
On Monday, April 3, at 1 p.m.,
Rabbi Bennett of Temple Israel
will discuss "Martin Buber: the
great theologian and leading
scholar on Chasidism;" on Mon-
day, April 10, at 12:30 p.m., Rab-
bi Conrad of Temple Kol Arni
will discuss the founder of the
Jewish Reconstructionist Move-
ment in America, Mordechai Ka-
plan. For registration or

On April 3, at 7 p.m., the Mon-
day night bridge game will start.
On Tuesday, April 4, at 10
a.m., Willie Winokur will teach a
beginner's bridge class which will
run for eight weeks on Tuesdays.

one week before the starting date.

Great Decisions 1995 is an
eight-week program now being
offered at both Jewish Commu-
nity Center locations. It will be-
gin on Tuesday, April 11, at
Maple-Drake and on Thursday,
April 13, at JPM at 7:30 p.m. Pre-
registration is required by
Wednesday, April 5. Fee includes

On Wednesday, April 5, at 7:30
p.m. at Maple-Drake, humorist,
author and lecturer Lila Green
will present "What's So Funny
About Being Jewish?" She will
explore the basis for Jewish hu-
mor. There is a charge.

Special Needs
Events Planned

The Jewish Community Center,
in cooperation with the Deaf and
Hearing Impaired Services of
Farmington Hills, will hold a
Hearing Loss Support Group on
the first and third Tuesday of
each month at 1 p.m. at Maple-
Drake. Meetings offer discussions
of coping skills, advocacy issues,
assistive listening devices, cur-
rent medical technology and
more.
The Annette and Company
dancers will perform at Maple-
Drake for the Center's Thursday
Night Social Group on Thursday,
March 30, at 7:30 p.m.
The Center has scheduled the
Wild Swan Theatre Workshop for
physically challenged youth,
third-sixth grade on Wednesdays
from 4:15-5:15 p.m. beginning
April 5. The workshop will pro-
vide children with opportunities
for creative expression, develop-
ment of social skills and the build-
ing of self-awareness and
confidence. It will be held at the
JPM building; sign interpretation
will be available upon request.
