Purim Programs
At Adat Shalom
Adat Shalom Synagogue will
mark Purim with a week of edu-
cation, outreach to these less
fortunate, and celebration high-
lighted by a mega-megillah
evening for the whole family.
Sisterhood will share the spir-
it of Purim with fellow Jews from
Jewish Vocational Service and
Kadima at its annual Sonia
Knopper Purim Outreach Lun-
cheon, Monday, March 13. The
program will begin at 11:30 a.m.
Nursery school children will pre-
sent a musical program, and the
Hillel Day School eighth grade
class will help serve the guests.
Synagogue clergy will participate.
Each guest will receive a shalach
manot bag of gifts to take home.
Chairmen of the Day are Susie
Berman and Sandi Miller.
The Nursery school will create
Purim Pizazz with parades, par-
ties, and mini-megillah readings
on March 16 and 17.
The congregation is invited to
the mega-megillah on Wednes-
day, March 15, beginning with a
supper at 5:45 p.m. There will be

an expanded megillah reading
by synagogue teen-agers, along
with Purim spiels, songs, games
and presentations by Adat
Shalom Religious School and Hil-
lel Day School youngsters. Pup-
peteer Maureen Schiffman will
entertain younger children, who
will rejoin parents following a cos-
tume parade toward the end of
the megillah reading.
At 7 a.m. Thursday, March 16,
the megillah will be read by the
Adat Shalom teens. They include:
Owen Alterman, Sara Bieder-
man, Jeremy Gordon, Aaron
Goodman, Jason Miller, Marc
Miller, Gabe Rubin, Michael
Schostak and Leah Weiss.
Sunday, March 19 will start off
with the Great Purim Shpiel with
religious school classes beginning
at 9 a.m.
The Adat Shalom Youth De-
partment will sponsor two Purim
Carnivals, running from 11 a.m.
to 1 p.m. on March 19. Morde-
chai's Marvelous Magical Mu-
seum will feature games, prizes,
and food. Admission is free. At
the same time Haman's Hide-
away will offer youngsters 2% to
5 years all the games they can
play, with prizes for everyone, for
one charge per child. Both carni-
vals are open to the community.
Proceeds will benefit the Youth
Department.
