When Opa! came to the suburbs
on October 27, 1993, flames ga-
lore blazed to big crowds every
night. The Greektown in West
Bloomfield is the pride of Rick Ro-
gow and Tom Peristeris, whose
large, expertly-cut in it's own
kitchen lamb chops, special
recipe Parthenon cake, tradition-
al Greek favorites, special salads,
including Tommy's New Idea Sal-
ad, are still winning return cus-
tomers with the same large
nightly attendances. Thrusday
and Friday evenings feature jazz,
with David Ball and Kevin Cros-
by.

wine, Golden Phoenix, specializ-
ing in Chinese, Cantonese and
Szechuan food, is the same fine
restaurant that had previously
been a long-time favorite on
Maple and Telegraph. Both din-
ing in and carry-out are available
in a wide assortment of Orien-
tal dishes for culinary consump-
tion.

has made Hoa Kow into one of the
favorite restaurants of its kind in
the area as people from all walks
of life and most parts of the De-
troit and Metropolitan sectors

Chinese dining. Plus Cantonese,
Szechuan and Mandarin, Hoa Kow
features a Chinese Buffet at lunch
and dinner along with its regular
menu. White fish in all cooking va-
rieties is also a big feature, with
almost a thousand pounds served
weekly.

A monthly musical series, fea-
turing four local cantors, will take
place at the Jimmy Prentis Mor-
ris Jewish community Center on
Tuesdays at 1 p.m. beginning in

in West Bloomfield on March 14;
Cantor Gail Hirschenfang of
Temple Beth El in Bloomfield
Hills on April 11; Cantor Howard

May 9, and Cantor Norman Rose
of Temple Eman-El in Oak Park
on June 13.
The cantors will come to the
Center to share their singing
talents with the Center's adult
