With international hotel and re-
sort companies flocking to Israel,
the addition of one more chain
might not seem like much.
But Robinson Club is a sub-
sidiary of German tour organiz-
ers TUI, the largest tourism
enterprise in Europe and possi-
bly the world.
Robinson Club head Kurt
Niclaus was in Israel recently for
talks with Amiel Tours, which
represents the 25-resort chain in
the country.
Mr. Niclaus also looked over
sites for a possible Robinson Club
in Israel, concentrating particu-
larly on Nahsholim, the kibbutz
resort at Hof Dor.
He says the range of resorts of-
fered by Robinson Club is simi-
lar to that of Club Med, although
Robinson concentrates on the
German-speaking market, with
most of the guests from Ger-
many, Austria and Switzerland.
Mr. Niclaus says the chain is
primarily a management com-
pany. It chooses locations with
potential for a specific market
and then invites investors to
come in and develop the proper-
ty according to Robinson's plans.
Mr. Niclaus says he sees no dif-
ficulty in finding investors for Is-
rael, particularly since the start
of the peace process.
"There are lots of people who
want to invest in Israel," he says.
A Robinson Club resort in Israel
would probably incorporate many
elements of kibbutz life and con-
sist of four- or five-star bunga-
lows with 600 to 800 beds, he
says.

ferred to the Wayne County Treasurer for collection.
Israel Chemicals
Sale Is OK'd
Israel Monopolies Supervisor
Yoram Turbowicz has given the
go-ahead for selling the 24.9 per-
cent controlling stake of Israel
Chemicals (ICL) to Israel Corpo-
ration chairman Shoul Eisen-
berg.
Mr. Turbowicz's approval did
not impose any conditions on the
sale.
The decision was forwarded to
the Israel Corporation, Balmor
(which Mr. Eisenberg controls),
the Government Companies Au-
thority, the ministers of finance
and industry and trade and the
Knesset Finance Committee.
Several committee members
have expressed reservations
about selling ICL to Mr. Eisen-
berg because they fear it will con-
centrate too much of the economy
in his hands.
Concerns also have been ex-
pressed over possible conflicts of
interest with Mr. Eisenberg's
other holdings, such as the phos-
phates factory he is setting up.
