cle? The answer the rabbis give is that God's presence, the She- hina, can be restricted within the limits of the smallest square inch. The Shehina can be felt within the human heart. The Shehina goes with a person wherever he goes. And, significantly, they added that when man does not do the right thing, when he vio- lates the moral law and seeks more for himself than he has a right to expect, the Shehina de- parts from him. He stands alone, bereft of God's presence like a fall- en leaf at the mercy of the driven wind. Perhaps that is why our world today is suffering from its present confusion. Many of us have wan- dered far from the higher moral law of God. We are mourning be- cause we cannot break God's moral law without the moral law breaking us. The task of religion, all religions, is to search and seek the ways of God. Perhaps the day will come soon when the Shehina will rest not only upon men and women as individuals but upon all man- kind. ❑ Goes Kosher for One Nicji- if Only!
