Model Seder

n Tuesday, March 21, at 6:30 p.m., the Ecumenical Institute for
Jewish-Christian Studies and Temple Beth El in Birmingham
will sponsor its annual model Passover seder.
Members and guests of the Ecumenical Institute are invited to share
a model seder with members of Temple Beth El. In addition to the tradi-
tional Passover meal, guests will participate in readings, retelling of the
story, and conversation with Temple Beth El hosts. Individuals and fam-
ilies are welcome. This event is especially significant for church confir-
mation and Bible study groups.

olunteers are invited to share in the joy of Purim
by assembling and/or delivering kosher food
parcels during the Great Purim Parcel Project
March 12, 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Agency for Jewish
Education (AJE) Building in Southfield.
The outreach program for families who may be
alone for the holiday is co-sponsored by the Jewish
Federation of Metropolitan Detroit Volunteer Net-
work, Jewish Experiences for Families, Hillel of Met-
ropolitan Detroit and The Jewish News.
Parcels can be made in peoples homes and dropped
off at the AJE building or either of the Jewish Com-
munity Centers in Oak Park and West Bloomfield.
Parcels will be delivered by community volunteers
from noon-2:30 p.m. Maps will be provided. The
parcels may be delivered to Shalom Detroit newcom-
ers, new Americans from the former Soviet Union,
Kadima, Kosher Meals on Wheels, and residents at
the Jewish Home for Aged and Group Apartments for
the Elderly.
Fresh and dried fruit, packaged nuts, wrapped can-
dy, packages of cookies and crackers may be includ-
ed in the kosher food package.

The program is co-sponsored by the Jewish Federation's Young Adult Di-
vision and the Agency for Jewish Education's Midrasha Center for Adult

Jewish Learning.
At 11:15 a.m., Aviva Silverman will review and compare leading contem-
porary Haggadot in "Finding the Haggadah That's Right for You." After the
study session, individuals will have the opportunity to examine Haggadot
designed for all ages.
"The Jewish Meaning of Freedom" also will be discussed at 12:15 p.m. This
second study session will be part of themeaste of Melton" preview for the Flo-
rence Melton Adult Mini-School of Me Detroit.
The program is free. There is a fee for child care, which is available only
by advance reservation.

r. Mark Diem and Linda Lee have been named chair-
men of the April 2-5 Days of Decision, the last major
community fund-raising event of behalf of the 1995 Al-
lied Jewish Campaign.
The volunteer phonathon by the community will conclude
the efforts of reaching the Campaign goal of $27 million.
Ms. Lee is the vice president of the Michigan Jewish AIDS Coalition. She is a past recipient
of the Jewish Federation's Sylvia Simon Greenberg Young Leadership Award and has served
in many leadership roles on behalf of the Jewish Federation and the Allied Jewish Campaign.
Dr. Diem is past chairman of the 1993 Campaign Super Weeks. He has served on the boards
of the Fresh Air Society, Hebrew Free Loan Association and the Jewish Community Center.
He also is a founding member of the Jewish Federation's Maimonides Society for medical pro-
fessionals.
