Shimon Peres: Subtle humor.

For some reason, a reporter
mistook Mr. Peres for a mem-
ber of the bargaining teams
and asked about the negotia-

The Israeli leader, not miss-
ing a beat, replied: "We will get
an interim agreement. It will
be a handshake."
There was no indication from

"My wife and I

the Los Angeles Times.
"We decided if we opened
another bakery, it would
be a drive-through."
Bagels are big business all over
the country. The U.S. Department
